Eircode, address format and why it matters

Google matches Irish businesses on address consistency, and Irish addresses are messy — townlands, no street numbers, and an Eircode that half of directories omit. Pick one canonical format for your name, address and phone, including the Eircode, and use it identically on your website footer, your Business Profile and every Irish directory you appear in.

A phone number in +353 international format on the site and 0-prefixed on a directory is the single most common inconsistency we find on wellness businesses in Cork, Dublin and Galway.

Categories: primary is the one that ranks

Your primary category carries the most weight. A gym with a sauna should choose 'Gym' as primary and add 'Sauna' as secondary — not the other way around — unless contrast therapy is genuinely your main revenue line. Yoga studios should use 'Yoga studio', not 'Fitness centre', which is far more competitive in Dublin.

Add every service you actually sell as a service item. Each one gives Google another term to match against local queries.

Photos, hours and posts

Upload real interior photos monthly. Profiles with recent photography get more direction requests and calls than dormant ones. Set Irish bank holiday hours in advance — Google flags profiles with unconfirmed holiday hours and quietly reduces their prominence.

Posts are underused by Irish wellness businesses. A weekly post about a class, an offer or a new facility keeps the profile active and gives you an extra surface in the Maps panel.

Connect it to the website

Link your Business Profile to a page that answers the query, not just the homepage. A 'sauna Cork' search should land on your sauna page with LocalBusiness schema, opening hours, an embedded map and a booking button above the fold.
